W.I.P. Day 1

Ok. So I am going to try to do a daily journal on my crochet work. It probably won't be an actual DAILY journal, and the stuff in it will probably be from the day before, but it will be W.I.P. and progress photos of my stuff!

On to the show!

Beginning of the day Sept. 13. Here's what I started with. Vincent Valentine. Needs his head wrap sewn on, his hair fixed, a new left arm (because I scrapped how I was originally going to make it), buckles on his cape, and an arm band around his right hand.

Here he is,  at the end of the day. His hair is fixed, head wrap sewn on, and old left arm removed. What is not shown that was worked on is all the buckles and his clawed hand, which were undergoing several coats of paint and sealant. Now, off to the next project of the day!

What could this be? In all it's measly eight rowed yellowness?

A Mario mushroom baby blanket! But, the color of the mushroom is still not able to be determined at this juncture... Perhaps there will be some clarity on the next progress day. On to project #3.

Now this little guy  doesn't have a before shot... unless you want to see a picture of a ball of yarn. He is a secret. Let's see if anyone can figure out what he's going to be as the progress goes on eh?
With day 1 finished, and this being a day behind real life, I can tell you that the next W.I.P. will be much more eventful! =D

Out of the Loop

I have been so busy, I totally forgot about my blog. Shame on me.

Anyway...

I have been working on several new projects!

I made my first Naruto doll, Kin Tsuchi. She took a lot of time and patience! She was originally a custom order for someone, but now it seems that they don't have the money for her. She was so looking forward to getting a home. She is now up on my etsy shop!

Pacman and Ms. Pacman purses. They were a request from someone who saw my Mario mushroom purses! I am still waiting to hear from them on if they want to purchase them or not. I really enjoyed making these, so when they sell I will probably make more!

I have been having so many project ideas. I should probably get them organized.

I'm still not finished organizing my craft stuff. I have had 2 cons to go to. OMG!con and Ikasucon. I have also had to deal with work *blech*, and the fact that the air conditioner went out for a couple days! This has been one of the hottest summers yet!

Wow

Sorry it has been so long since I have blogged. A lot has been going on. I've been spending time with family, working on the house, and working on cleaning and organizing all of my craft stuff! The craft stuff alone is a crazy feat to try to accomplish!

Not including the like 4-5 30 gallon totes full of yarn...

And all of the odds and ends that need to find their own little space to be in...

I have a 50 gallon tote overflowing with finished projects that need to find homes!

My cousin visited and I pushed off on her; a knit hat, fingerless gloves (that is the only item that I had actually made specifically for HER), 2 owl magnets, 3 angel magnets, and 2 knit balls!

The tote is still overflowing... and I probably need to take pictures of a bunch of it and add them to my etsy account.

I have also been trying to find small simple projects to bust my yarn stash with. I ended up making and listing 20 iPod cozies in less than 3 days! There is still so much yarn left... They didn't take up very much of it.

I am really trying to condense my craft stuff. I know it is probably going to take forever, but I have a goal to get it finished by the end of June (hopefully at the very latest). I hope I can maybe post some pictures of the progress along the way, but Idk if that's going to happen or not =P.

Mario Goes Baby

Both my sister and my cousin asked me to transform my Mario mushroom purses into diaper bags. They are both getting ready to have their first child. My sister, due 2 days before Christmas. My cousin, due sometime in January.
It's roughly 13 inches wide, 11 inches tall, and 4 inches deep.

I haven't made the liner for it yet. I'm planning on putting some pockets in it as well. I'm really proud of this! Hoping to make some more once the holidays are over.

I tried to make the handle where they could either hang it off their shoulder, or put it across their chest without too much trouble.

I am trying something a little different and making my sister a pixel designed baby blanket also! Perhaps we shall see some more versions of this on my etsy page soon!

It's only about halfway finished right now, and I'm planning on putting a colorful border on it as well. I can't wait to post the finished piece when it's done!

Local Vampires

So, I finally finished my friend's birthday presents! I present to you Mr. and Mrs. Cullen!

It took me over a year to make these, because I wanted them to be perfect for her. Bella is in her blue satin dress and silver heels she wears when she is first changed. She is also sporting the red eyes of a newly born vampire. Both have sparkling skin like they are in eternal sunshine.

They really enjoy running through the woods and hanging out in trees.

Edward, with his telltale golden eyes of the Cullen family. Looking all suave in his gray coat and copper colored hair.

I made Bella a little busty! Lol! I was watching a lot of anime when I made her, and knew my friend would get a kick out of it! Plus, the books say she is extraordinarily beautiful, and I'm sure Bella wouldn't mind the change either.

I work at Walmart, and gave my friend these at work. She loved showing them off, and it was so funny watching her try to hide Bella while still showing her off! She didn't think she was very appropriate for customers to view! Lol!

Even though I had a blast making them, they are and will remain one of a kind. I hope to perhaps make some smaller versions to put in my etsy shop, but this one and only Bella will have the actual satin dress. The fabric is way too hard to work with in this small of a scale!

NASA challenge!

So, Etsy had a challenge this month, to create an art design based on NASA and the space program. I didn't have much problems thinking of a design for this project! When I was little my dad used to work for NASA, and when I was 6 the space shuttle STS-31 Discovery was launched on April 24th, 1990 and landed on April 29th, 1990 at Edwards Airforce Base, CA. I don't remember if we saw it launch or land, but I remember the sand of the desert blowing all over and everyone around us was really busy and excited. I got a patch with all the astronauts' names listed on it. Which, pack rat that I am, I have saved for all these years!
Hence the inspiration for the challenge was born!

Like all good shuttles, it had to have a sturdy base.

 Going up!

Getting there...

Boosters so they can fly around.

Nose tip for protection during re-entry.

And last, but not least... the little details!

I am so proud of this little guy! I worked very hard on him, and as soon as the paint dries I hope it can go to a good home! Although, if it wins the competition it will be up on display?

ARGH!

Ok. So I am working on making crochet Edward Cullen and Bella Swan dolls for one of my best friends at work. It has taken me like a year to figure out how I want to do Edward's hair and eyes, cause I want him to look awesome for her. She is a bit of a Twilight fanatic and has a room with all of her Twilight merchandise in it. I had told her that I was only going to make Edward, since he is almost 2 feet tall and was taking forever I told her that I might not ever get around to doing a Bella for her to match.

So, now I finally have Edward's hair looking right, and I messed around with a combination of things until I had the perfect design for the eyes. And of course I decide that he can't spend a lifetime all by himself, so I just HAD to make a Bella to match.

So she could actually be with him "forever" I decided to make her "Vampire Bella" and wanted to give her the blue satin dress and silver shoes to match. I also decided to give her the red eyes of a freshly turned vampire. But, alas. As soon as I get everything cut out for her dress my sewing machine decides it's going to flip out, and I have no idea what is going wrong! I haven't had much experience with sewing machines, you see, and have sewn most of my things by hand. But I really wanted her to look nice and wanted to use the machine on this piece. Now I have to sew it all by hand, and satin material isn't very good to work with in the first place. Very hard to get seams to sew straight and the fabric to lay still so you can even pin it straight.

I was hoping to have her finished by tomorrow, but it looks like she will have to wait a few more days for her birthday present that is already a year late.
